What is Ymir Mobile?

Ymir Mobile is an Icelandic software company that specializes on web and mobile application development. We have years of experience and have been involved in numerous different projects.

The word Ymir stems from norse mythology, referring to the giant Ymir from which the world was made.

What does Ymir Mobile do?

Mostly we work as contractors and develop mobile applications (e.g. iPhone, Android, J2ME, Symbian, etc.) for clients from all over the world. We also program web-pages ranging from rich web 2.0 to simple Wordpress pages.

Ymir offers a fast and reliable software development service at a reasonable rate, with two types of programming expertise.

Previous Work

To date (january 2011) we have done the programming behind nine published applications on the Apple App store, with four more being published soon. We have published four J2ME applications and are currently working on our first Android applications. Also, we have been involved in the programming of five different web-sites.

Our customers in Iceland include Reykjavík city, Reykjanesbær city, HugurAx, Handpoint, Meniga and more. We have also collaborated with Mobileinteraction on several international projects.

Products

The Ymir Event Manager provides a complete solution for events and conferences. It contains a special event content management system that is seamlessly integrated with customizable web-widgets and mobile applications. This system is currently being tested by the cities of Reykjavík and Reykjanesbær for their events, but will be officially launched and available in Q2 2011.

Our debut application on the app store was the puzzle game Ringo. Click here for the promotional video.

Since 2009 the Ymir Shift Manager has distributed all doctor shifts at Læknavaktin, a health-care service in Iceland. The application ensures statistical fairness of every shift distribution through its rule system, that allows it to be fitted to any workplace scenario.

Ymir Mobile is a privately held Icelandic company that was founded in february 2008. Our offices are located in Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland, and we can be reached via our e-mail: info(at)ymirmobile.com.

Our Team

Ymir's team consists only of experienced programmers where each member has at least five years of experience working as a programmer. Our experience varies, which makes our development team extremely versatile and capable of working with any programming language and platform.

We embrace free and open source software, such as Eclipse, mongoDB, elastic search and many more.
